For many crops, sulphur is a macronutrient of major importance and high demand. This element is a component of numerous plant proteins, including enzymes, and any deficiency has a detrimental effect on har vest yield and crop quality. Particularly high demand characterises rapeseed, corn, sugar beet or cereal plants. Sulphur deficiencies, for example, caused by its leaching, may occur in soils of all types, particularly at pH lower than 5 or higher than 8.
